New York Blood Center (NYBC) has been recognized by the 18th annual Webby Awards as an “Official Honoree” in the Websites: Health category. The new website was launched in mid-2013 and was designed by New York City web design and technology group, Blenderbox. SoSmall Media LLC served as project manager and provides ongoing website counsel.
The Webby Awards is the leading international award celebrating excellence on the Internet. This year, 12,000 entries from over 60 countries were submitted in five entry-types: Websites, Interactive Advertising & Media, Online Film & Video, Mobile & Apps and Social.
“We took a very thoughtful approach to the website redesign,” said Robert Purvis, NYBC Vice President. “We host about 500 individual blood drives a month. The new site needed to be user-friendly for our donors, while effectively showcasing our recipient stories medical programs and services, and groundbreaking research.”
The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which was founded to “help drive the creative, technical, and professional progress of the Internet and evolving forms of interactive media.”
“The Webby Awards are the most highly recognized and high-profile recognition one can earn in our industry,” said Jason Jeffries, CEO/Founder of Blenderbox.
“New York Blood Center has many stories worth telling,” said SoSmall LLC President Kate Bird. “With this upgrade, NYBC is now at the forefront of bringing those stories to the diverse audiences so directly impacted by their lifesaving mission.”
